Valley Falls State Park
Bring your mountain bike! A series of four picturesque falls created by the dark, rushing waters of the Tygart Valley River distinguish this 1,145-acre park. In addition to its scenic charm, Valley Falls State Park offers fishing and miles of hiking and biking trails.
Prickett’s Fort State Park
A living history park that commemorates late 18th-century life on the Virginia frontier. Authentically costumed re-enactors demonstrate colonial skills and describe the fort’s fascinating history.
Coopers Rock State Forest
Beautiful Coopers Rock State Forest boasts some of the most iconic views in ‘Almost Heaven.’ Located just off I-68, about 13 miles from nearby Morgantown, the park features canyon overlooks, historical sites, picnic shelters, 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, sandstone cliffs for rock climbing and bouldering, cross-country ski terrain, a lake perfect for reeling in trout, and a nearby river for rafting.
Anna Jarvis Museum, The Founder of Mothers’ Day
Mother’s Day was invented by West Virginia native Anna Jarvis to honor her own mother. Her birthplace eventually became the headquarters for Civil War General George McClellan. See memorabilia reflecting one of the most exciting periods of American History.
Coal Country Miniature Golf
Family-oriented fun. Mini-golf, batting cages, picnic pavilion, and an Interactive Coal Mining Exhibit that celebrates West Virginia’s history and heritage.
Green Hills Country Club Golf Course
A semi-private course that is open to the public on Mondays. With 18 beautiful and challenging holes, this course has been voted “Best Course in the Area” since 2018 and continues to get better. Visit the Pro Shop.
Mountain Dragon Mazery
Taste wine made from honey! Otherwise known as Mead, honey wine has been produced for thousands of years, beginning with the ancient Babylonians. History and flavor lives on in Fairmont. Taste it for yourself – Mead is wonderful.
